FAR INSPECTIONS
FAR Inspections is seeking highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required; effective time management and meeting deadlines are essential.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. Inspectors verify property occupancy and report on general condition using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after a property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Conduct inspections that typically take 5–6 minutes.
Complete an inspection within 4 days of assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9 or more photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Be able to spend extended periods driving, stopping frequently during the day in your county.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you will pay for your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Although paid per inspection, you can earn the equivalent of
$30–$40 per hour . Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates; higher volume counties have lower rates. There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month‑to‑month. Earn more as you become established, have greater availability, or cover a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
