Associate - Distressed Debt & Special Situations
A leading, NYC-based alternative investment platform is seeking an Associate to join its
Distressed Credit & Special Situations
team. This group invests across the capital structure in complex, event-driven, and idiosyncratic opportunities—including stressed/distressed credit, hard-catalyst special sits, dislocated public credit, and bespoke opportunistic situations.
This is a high-impact role with direct exposure to senior leadership, deep analytical work, and the ability to help shape new investments from day one.
Qualifications
2–4 years of experience in one of the following:
Restructuring / RX banking
Distressed or special situations investing (public or private)
Opportunistic credit investing or similar research roles
Strong modeling skills and a deep understanding of credit documents
Ability to dissect complex capital structures and identify key value drivers
Intellectual curiosity, self-motivation, and a genuine passion for contrarian/complex situations
High attention to detail and the ability to operate in a lean, fast-moving environment
What You’ll Do
Conduct fundamental credit and equity analysis on distressed, stressed, and event-driven opportunities
Build and maintain financial models, waterfalls, recovery analyses, and scenario outcomes
Evaluate restructurings, liability management transactions, litigation-driven situations, and special situations in public markets
Support diligence across capital structure investments (loans, bonds, trade claims, structured / bespoke instruments)
Produce investment memos and present actionable ideas to the senior investment committee
Monitor existing investments and industry trends across cyclical and event-driven sectors
