HRIS Specialist

Virginia ABC is currently seeking applicants for the HRIS Specialist role. This position supports the Senior HRIS Analyst in administering HR applications for a workforce of over 4,000 employees. The HRIS Specialist is expected to handle daily administrative tasks, monitor and respond to internal customer support tickets, run ad-hoc SQL queries, track software application releases and assist in documenting requirements for application enhancements. The ideal candidate will have excellent time management and communication skills, proven experience tracking multiple projects or work initiatives, readily takes initiative, and is committed to improving the user experience. In keeping with the mission of the Authority, the role promotes excellent customer service and cost-effective solutions through effective consultative services, excellent communications and collegial relationships. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Include: Working knowledge of SQL with demonstrated ability to write SQL queries within relational databases. Ability to understand technical documentation pertaining to APIs, file feeds, and database tables. Familiarity with the software development lifecycle. Experience using a ticketing system (Jira, ServiceNow, Cherwell). Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance to HR system users. Manage permissions, access, and similar system operations and settings for HR system users. Assist in documenting business requirements for application enhancements and communicating with stakeholders. Assist in user acceptance testing and post-release testing. Assist with internal audits to ensure data integrity. Participate in project planning, management, and review of activities related to policy changes. Minimum Qualifications: Experience in a fast-paced office environment. Two or more years in a professional role supporting software applications. Experience partnering with information technology professionals to document requirements and conducting user acceptance testing. Demonstrate best practices for auditing applications for data integrity, data quality, user access, and user role provisioning. Preferred Qualifications: Experience as an administrator of an HR Information System. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Human Resources, Business Administration, other related fields, or 4 years of related Human Resources experience. HRIS, Information Technology, and/or HR related certification or extensive professional experience Familiarity with human resources policies, procedures, and best practices.
