Mortgage Field Services Inspector – FAR INSPECTIONS
FAR Inspections seeks highly motivated independent contractors to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. The role is based in Reno, NV and offers predictable full-time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. Experience in mortgage field inspections is not required; strong time‑management and deadline‑compliance are essential.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. The inspection verifies property occupancy, assesses general condition using a mobile application, and collects data for lender reporting.
Responsibilities
Complete most inspections within 5–6 minutes.
Submit the inspection form within 4 days of assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ property photos with brief comments.
Use a mobile app to complete a short form.
Drive extended periods within the assigned territory, making numerous stops daily.
Qualifications
Computer with internet access.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you pay your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay & Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you can earn an equivalent of $30–$40 per hour.
You will complete anywhere from 20–500 inspections per month working 2–30 hours per week, depending on county type. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates and higher‑volume counties have lower rates. There is no set minimum; the work is consistent month‑to‑month, and you can earn more as you establish greater availability or cover a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
