Mortgage Field Services Inspector

FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule.

What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. The purpose of the property inspection is:
To verify property occupancy.
To report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.
Most inspections are exterior only. About 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
We contract with inspectors at a county level. This means you would be responsible for completing all inspections in your county. In some cases, you may split the county with another inspector if volume warrants it.
Responsibilities
Typical inspections take 5–6 minutes.
Complete each inspection within four days of assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy using industry standards.
Take nine or more photos with brief comments.
Complete a short form in the mobile app.
Be prepared to drive extended periods, making multiple stops during the day within the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus since you pay for your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. You will earn the equivalent of
$30–$40 per hour .
Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month while working two to thirty hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates and higher‑volume counties have lower rates. Work is consistent month to month.
Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or are willing to cover a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
