Transmission Superintendent

Transmission Superintendent is to provide department leadership, direction, and oversight for the construction and maintenance of the electrical transmission lines in FKEC’s System, providing the most reliable and safe system for members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Schedule and oversee FKEC EHV and contractor crews conducting maintenance and construction, ensuring compliance with project engineering design and industry standards.
Manage and oversee contracts and compliance for work being done on the transmission system.
Attend meetings for underground utilities digging near transmission structures.
Interpret annual aerial inspection and annual infrared results and schedule appropriate repairs.
Review upcoming engineered transmission projects and provide suggested changes.
Manage monthly EHV truck and work boat inspections to verify operational condition.
Provide recommendations for future transmission projects.
Work closely with FKEC’s Environmental Manager to ensure all permitting is correctly adhered to and vegetation clearances are maintained.
Manage anchor/guy wire inspection and maintenance program.
Work closely with SOC to schedule transmission switching or maintenance.
Develop, maintain, and enforce adherence to FKEC’s Bare-hand program and FKEC’s safety policies, including providing oversight for specialized training to ensure the safest working environment.
The Superintendent will review department needs for capital purchases and expense budget adjustments. The Superintendent will develop and propose the department’s annual budgets, with analysis and justification for each recommendation. Approved capital projects will be integrated into the existing five-year plan. The Superintendent will monitor departmental expenditures to ensure budget compliance and to improve accuracy continually.

Marginal Responsibilities
Perform other related or assigned duties as requested.
Maintain Cathodic Protection Testing Program.
Oversee guardrail repairs.
Manage Transmission warehouse inventory and standardize material usage.
Maintain Transmission structure database.
Maintain Coast Guard training program for vessel captains.
Maintain Coast Guard Navigable Aids including inspection records.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Valid driver’s license.
Experience
Ten (10) years in all phases of transmission construction, maintenance, and operation including bare-hand work.
Three (3) years supervisory preferred.
Additional Requirements
Observe and practice all safety rules, guidelines, and best practices.
Attendance at seminars, conferences, training programs, safety meetings, and Members’ Annual Meetings as requested or assigned.
Extra hours may be necessary during emergencies or special events.
Should have valid First Aid and CPR cards.
Must have a valid Class A Florida Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
