Job Summary Sales Development Representatives (“BDR”) are responsible for qualifying both inbound and outbound sales leads at the initial stages in the sales funnel. They must research potential clients, connect with, and educate prospects before handing them off to the closers of the sales team. The outbound process requires the BDR to reach out to prospects via cold calls, emails, or social networks. The inbound process is directed toward prospects who have shown interest in our product or service by reaching out to the company via phone call, email, or request for additional information online.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
75 calls and/or emails per day
Follow‑up on inbound marketing leads by identifying qualified opportunities with appropriate levels of information at the right time for interested prospects.
Educate and develop prospects leading to hand‑off to sales teams.
Create target prospect lists and penetrate key accounts.
Cold‑call prospects generated by a variety of outside sources.
Answer incoming customer calls and route them in the correct direction.
Identify key players, research and obtain business requirements, and present solutions to begin the sales cycle.
Develop a knowledge of the company’s product.
Monitor account creation to ensure that no duplicate accounts are created.
Work with a specified region to help grow sales.
Profile strategic accounts, identify key individuals, research and obtain business requirements, then present solutions to start the sales cycle.
Set appointments for the Local Sales team when a lead reaches a qualified stage.
Nurture new marketing leads by educating and developing prospects until they are ready to speak with a field sales rep.
Collaborate with sales and marketing team members on strategic sales approach.
Ensure successful follow‑through of the sales cycle by maintaining accurate activity and lead qualification information in the CRM application.
Minimum Education Required High School or GED.
Qualifications
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Excellent sales and negotiation skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to function well in a high‑paced and at times stressful environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Physical Requirements
Positive attitude and willingness to maintain a professional demeanor with clients and team members.
Ability to work around common office equipment, supplies and environments.
Oral expression and comprehension: the ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand, and to listen effectively.
Written comprehension and expression: the ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing, and to communicate effectively in writing.
Reasoning: the ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense, and to recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong.
Sitting: ability to sit or stand for long periods while performing duties.
Lifting: ability to bend, stoop and lift up to 10 lbs.
