Job Description What You’ll Accomplish: You’ll be part of an incredible team within Synchrony that builds and maintains customer relationships focused on community credit needs and community development activity to meet the Bank’s CRA statutory requirements. This is a production role with a focus on sourcing community development loans and investments to advance Synchrony’s CRA obligations. You will structure deals, lead the underwriting process with key Synchrony stakeholders, present the deals for approval at committee, and work with appropriate team members to consummate approved deals. You will manage multiple relationships with a focus on production and pre‑close activities and coordinate with the CRA portfolio management team to ensure all obligations are met.

Essential Responsibilities

Act as an Owner: Bring deals that satisfy CRA goals and statutory bank requirements; serve as the primary contact for relationships and facilitate concise communications between customers and internal stakeholders.

Lead the underwriting process with key stakeholders and create deal presentation materials (IRD).

Relate and Inspire: Cultivate strong relationships of trust with team members, stakeholders, and outside community leaders, counterparts, and syndicators to create an environment of confidence and belonging.

In coordination with the portfolio management team, conduct periodic relationship reviews and due diligence on customers/clients and stakeholders on‑site or virtually.

Ensure all relationships under your stewardship have current and well‑defined summaries (storyboard, CRA allocations, highlights) for CRA exam preparation.

Champion Synchrony: Represent Synchrony for CRA purposes in the community and deepen your relationships in the communities we serve.

Manage client relationships that involve moderate to complex deals, multiple deals, or high dollar exposure.

Guide and negotiate deal structuring to achieve desired outcomes and assist junior team members.

Present deals for committee approval.

Act with anticipation of customer needs by channeling concise communications.

Coordinate deal closing with Legal and the customer/client; act as Synchrony signatory when assigned.

Represent Synchrony on community‑based boards, committees, and trade groups.

Assist with work activities of other production team members as needed.

Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree with 6+ years relevant professional experience, or 9+ years of relevant experience if lacking a degree.

3+ years of experience in Community Reinvestment underwriting, business development, deal structuring, and negotiation, focusing on low‑income housing tax credit, small business investment corporation funds, and nonprofit community development loans. (Residential mortgage loan underwriting is not a qualification for this role.)

Demonstrated knowledge of advanced business concepts such as IRR, NPV analysis, and financial statement analysis.

Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation).

Ability to travel as needed, typically Desired Qualifications

Working knowledge of bank laws, rules, and regulations, including lending regulations and the Community Reinvestment Act and related regulations.

Excellent organization, prioritization, and time‑management skills; project‑management experience.

Business acumen, sound judgment, and problem‑solving ability (be prepared to share a complex problem you solved).

Ability to influence all levels across the business, including senior leaders and customers/syndicators.

Eligibility Requirements

Must be 18 years or older.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Must be willing to take a drug test, undergo a background investigation, and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process.

Must satisfy Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

New hires (Level 4‑7) must have 9 months of continuous service before posting on other roles; after that, a minimum 6 months’ time in position is required for non‑exempt roles. Employees at level 8+ must have at least 18 months’ time in position before posting. All internal employees must meet performance expectations and obtain manager (and HR if necessary) approval to post.

Salary & Compensation Salary range: $110,000.00 – $185,000.00 USD per year, with eligibility for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance. Actual compensation will be based on work experience, skill level, or knowledge and is adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro, and Seattle.
