Position Overview As a Broadband Specialist I (Field Technician), you will primarily focus on new installations of cable television and broadband services. You’ll drive a company van, enter customer homes, and represent Mediacom every day. You’ll also learn and perform a variety of duties including installation, service changes, additional outlet installation, service disconnection, payment collection, and any special customer requests related to installation.

Position Responsibilities
Complete exterior and interior drop installations, from tap to antenna terminals, on customer equipment in single and multiple unit dwellings, including pre‑wired units.
Perform new connects, reconnects, requested and non‑pay disconnects; add outlets; install/ remove converters; perform upgrades and downgrades of service.
Analyze picture quality and judge acceptability of picture delivered after cable installation.
Work with connectors, fasteners, wire and use hand tools.
Use customary CATV hand and power tools.
Complete prescribed paperwork as directed by system management.
Read signal levels using a field strength meter; adjust levels to resolve installation problems; install connectors on various drop cables; maintain proper clearances; install tap‑off devices.
Climb poles with safety equipment, ladders, or other structures as needed.
Lift and carry loads up to 100 lbs, including line ladder; work in confined spaces such as crawl spaces.
Use, store, and maintain a VOM or DMM to check for “open” or “short” online and AC/DC voltages.
Read general drop system layouts from blueprints.
Inform customers of FCC rules and company policies as they pertain to customers.
Drive company vehicles in service duties, use bucket truck, and maintain vehicle upkeep.
Generate company revenue through effective sales techniques, offering product options, sales campaigns, and promotions.
Perform clean‑up and salvage of wrecked materials; provide general assistance to other employees as directed.
Perform installations and service changes while complying with applicable codes, guidelines, company procedures, and safe work practices to deliver an outstanding customer experience.
Position Requirements
No experience required.
High school diploma or GED required.
Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required.
General mechanical and consumer device knowledge.
Ability to interact and communicate with customers and co‑workers.
Ability to work in high or tight spaces.
Ability to work in all weather conditions and at various heights.
Flexibility for work hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
Physical Requirements
Frequent handling of heavy objects (≈50‑100 lbs.) and materials or heavy hand tools.
