Position Overview As a Broadband Specialist I (Field Technician), you will primarily focus on new installations of our cable television and broadband services. You’ll drive a company van, visit customer homes, represent Mediacom every day, and perform duties such as installation, changes of service, outlet installation, disconnection, payment collection, and special customer requests.

Position Responsibilities
Complete exterior and interior drop installations for both single and multi‑unit residences, including pre‑wired units
Perform new connects, reconnects, requested and non‑pay disconnects; add outlets; install/remove converters; upgrade/downgrade service
Analyze picture quality and judge acceptability after cable installation
Use connectors, fasteners, wire, and hand tools for installation tasks
Operate CATV hand and power tools as required
Complete required paperwork per system management
Read and interpret signal levels using field‑strength meters; adjust levels for installation problems; install connectors on various drop cables; maintain proper clearances; install tap‑off devices
Climb poles with safety gear, ladders, or other structures as needed
Lift and carry loads up to 100 lbs., including line ladder; work in confined spaces such as crawl spaces
Operate VOM or DMM to check for open or short circuits and AC/DC voltages
Read general drop system layouts from blueprints
Inform customers of FCC rules and company policies as applicable
Drive company vehicles and use bucket trucks as required; maintain vehicle upkeep and safety
Generate additional revenue through effective sales techniques and product promotion
Perform other duties such as clean‑up, salvage of wrecked materials, and assistance to colleagues as directed
Adhere to applicable codes, guidelines, company procedures, and safe work practices during installations and service changes
Position Requirements
No experience required
High school diploma or GED required
Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required
General mechanical and consumer device knowledge
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in tight or confined spaces
Ability to work in all weather conditions and at various heights
Flexible work hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
Physical Requirements
Frequent handling of heavy objects (≈50‑100 lbs.) and heavy hand tools
