Job Description
The Real Estate Corporate Banking Associate is directly involved in the design, origination, structuring, and execution of loan commitments, loan syndications, and capital markets products and services for existing and prospective REIT/Fund clients. The associate assists in cultivating client relationships through research, industry trend monitoring, and strategic planning. Duties include client meetings, due diligence visits, and other interactions that provide exposure to key executives and senior bankers. The role performs cross‑functional credit and underwriting analysis, supports coverage, and helps identify and mitigate risk in current and proposed credit products. Responsibilities also involve analyzing new real estate banking opportunities, underwriting exposure, and managing a loan portfolio in conjunction with the aligned manager.
Primary Responsibilities
Understands client needs and identifies Regions’ products and services or complex, actionable ideas to help clients achieve their goals
Develops and maintains detailed financial models to value REIT/Fund companies and projected financial results
Collects, reviews, and documents receipt of financial statements, covenant compliance, and additional deliverables while ensuring credit files are current and complete
Supports senior bankers proactively in relationship responsibilities, including engaging with current and prospective clients, analyzing profitability, and generating growth ideas
Maintains proprietary databases by monitoring news, current events, transactions, and financial information for clients, prospects, and industry participants
Assists in preparation of written materials, including pitches, proposals, client materials, and supporting analyses with limited supervision
Prepares and documents the financial analysis for renewal and/or credit servicing documents, and escalates findings to the Credit Products Specialist for risk review
Provides expert service with a high sense of urgency in coordination between coverage bankers and Credit Products partners to deliver the whole bank to the client swiftly and creatively
Supports coverage and credit products in client prospecting, transaction screening memos, underwriting, transaction closing, and portfolio management
Completes functions associated with closing, including loan document review, commitment letter formulation, closing memo coordination, and fulfillment tasks
Conducts ongoing monitoring, including benchmark testing, electronic credit file maintenance, and review of metrics
Validates that risk ratings remain acceptable and identifies rating changes with oversight from CPA II/Credit Products Specialist and partnership with Coverage and Credit Risk partners
Participates in recruitment, development, training, and oversight of junior resources
This position is exempt from time‑keeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay. The position is incentive eligible.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field with a proven record of high achievement and three (3) years of relevant work experience
Formal credit training
Preferences
Master’s in Business Administration (MBA)
Skills and Competencies
Advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills
Energetic and creative self‑starter with willingness to manage significant and multiple responsibilities
Effectively prioritizes and completes work from both coverage and credit products reporting lines

Job Range Target Minimum:
$101,385.32 USD
Median:
$125,727.00 USD
Incentive Pay Plans This role is eligible to participate in a discretionary incentive plan. Employees have the potential to receive a discretionary award based on performance against defined metrics and goals.
