Recreation Coordinator - (Fitness and Community Center Guest Service Coordinator) Performs intermediate work planning and organizing City sponsored enrichment, educational, inclusive, adaptive and supportive programs for all ages. The primary position responsibilities and areas of impact include overseeing the fitness and wellness programs while managing guest services at the New Brighton Community Center (NBCC). This role ensures a welcoming and safe environment by supervising fitness activities, front desk operations, and part-time staff.

Fitness & Wellness Programming

Design and implement fitness programs for all ages and abilities.

Supervise personal trainers and fitness instructors, ensuring program quality.

Coordinate group exercise schedules, substitute coverage, and program marketing.

Maintain fitness areas and equipment in a safe, clean condition.

Track attendance, gather feedback, and improve programs based on trends.

Assist with budgeting and facility usage monitoring.

Guest Services & Community Relations

Oversee front desk operations, ensuring excellent customer service.

Supervise, train, and schedule guest service staff.

Manage membership registration, data entry, and recordkeeping.

Enforce policies, address customer concerns, and promote community engagement events.

Serve as a backup for the Recreation Supervisor as needed.

Liaison to Health Insurance Program

Serve as the primary contact for health insurance wellness programs.

Ensure program eligibility for insurance reimbursement and submit monthly reports.

Maintain accurate participant records and address insurance-related inquiries.

Schedule

Includes mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, based on program demands.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Primarily indoors; may include outdoor programming.

Exposure to high noise levels.

Active role requiring frequent movement, lifting, standing, and occasional high-intensity activity.

Qualifications

Associate's Degree in Parks and Recreation, Exercise Science, or related field with moderate work-related experience.

Minimum 2 years of experience in fitness programming, personal training, and guest services.

Nationally recognized fitness certification (ACE, NETA, ACSM, NASM, or equivalent) or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.

First Aid/CPR certification required within 6 months of hire.
