Job Title: Content Writer
Join the NYC Campaign Finance Board to compose clear, engaging content for NYC Votes, our nonpartisan voter engagement initiative, and help New Yorkers navigate elections, voting, and civic participation.
Pay Range
$67,000.00–$73,000.00 per year.
Responsibilities
Write, edit, and produce content for NYC Votes campaigns across web, email, social media, advertising, and print.
Ensure all content reflects NYC Votes’ voice, style, and accessibility standards, including plain language and language access considerations.
Brainstorm content plans for key initiatives such as matching funds education, debates, and election‑specific content.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to maintain consistent messaging across platforms.
Adapt content for multiple audiences, focusing on engaging young voters, multilingual communities, and historically underrepresented groups.
Incorporate SEO best practices and use analytics to measure digital content performance and refine strategies.
Provide editorial feedback for written assets.
Manage deadlines and workflows for multiple projects in fast‑paced election cycles.
Uphold the CFB’s mission and nonpartisan principles in all communications.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, writing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
1–3 years of experience in writing, editing, or writing content management in a similar role.
Strong knowledge of plain language, AP style, and accessibility in public communications.
Proficiency in using content management systems and publishing tools.
Excellent written, editing, and project‑management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Experience with SEO, analytics, and adapting content for diverse audiences.
Comfort working in a nonpartisan, mission‑driven environment.
Additional Skills and Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with New York City government or civic engagement.
Experience using Salesforce Marketing Cloud or equivalent CMS.
Experience with SEO best practices and analytics tools.
