Mortgage Field Services Inspector

FAR INSPECTIONS .

FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule.

Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.

What is an Occupancy Verification? The purpose of the property inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only, with about 10% requiring interior photos after the property has gone vacant.

We contract with inspectors at a county level. Inspectors are responsible for completing all inspections in their county, sometimes sharing a county with another inspector if volume allows.

Responsibilities

Most common inspections should only take 5-6 minutes.

Complete the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.

Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.

Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.

Complete a short form in an app.

Spend extended periods driving while making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.

Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you pay for your own gas)

Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection is paid at a flat rate, which varies by county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of $30‑$40 per hour. Depending on the county’s urban/rural status, you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates; higher‑volume counties have lower rates. There is no set number of inspections per month; the work is consistent month‑to‑month.

Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or are willing to cover a larger territory. No additional mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
