Mortgage Field Services Inspector – FAR INSPECTIONS
FAR Inspections is seeking highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. No experience with mortgage field inspections required; strong time‑management and deadline‑meeting skills are essential. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.
What is an Occupancy Verification?
Verify property occupancy.
Report general property condition via a mobile application.
Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after a property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Typical inspection should take 5–6 minutes.
Complete the inspection within 4 days of assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Spend extended periods driving with numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you will pay for your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of
$30–$40 per hour.
Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural you will complete anywhere from 20–500 inspections per month working 2–30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates and higher volume counties have lower rates. There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month‑to‑month.
Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or are willing to cover a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
