Overview
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but the ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years. What is an Occupancy Verification?
Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. The purpose of the property inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant. Responsibilities
Review inspection requests and complete inspections within 4 days after assignment. Conduct exterior inspections (5–6 minutes each) and, when required, interior photos. Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments. Complete a short form in the mobile app. Determine occupancy based on industry standards. Travel within your county; you may share a county with another inspector if volume warrants. Requirements
Computer with internet connection. Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you pay your own gas). Smartphone (Android or iPhone). Printer. Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license. Pay and Hours
This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate, varying by county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of
$30‑$40 per hour . Depending on the county, you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month working 2–30 hours per week. Lower volume counties offer higher rates; higher volume counties offer lower rates. There is no fixed number of inspections per month; the work is consistent month to month. Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or are willing to cover a larger territory. No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
