Job Summary The individual in this role is a seasoned insurance professional responsible for leading the execution of new business and renewal processes for mid‑to‑large commercial insurance accounts. This includes overseeing timelines, conducting exposure and financial analysis, preparing quote specifications, negotiating complex coverage terms, and presenting comprehensive proposals to clients. The role requires proactive collaboration with Client Advisors, Account Service Teams, and carrier partners, as well as the ability to navigate complex risks and deliver consultative insights. It demands advanced negotiation and market influence to deliver optimal risk transfer solutions and supports team development, process improvement, and trusted partnership in carrier negotiations.
Responsibilities
Maintain the timeline and process during new business and renewal, including exposure analysis, quote specifications, coverage negotiation, and presentation of proposals.
Develop and execute high‑level placement strategies for complex accounts, leveraging deep market intelligence and carrier relationships.
Evaluate alternative risk financing mechanisms such as large deductible programs and captive structures.
Strategize and build insurance towers for select accounts, conducting financial modeling and exposure analysis.
Exercise independent judgment in placement decisions, balancing client needs with market conditions.
Ensure compliance, accuracy, and timely execution of end‑to‑end placement processes; lead year‑end portfolio reviews.
Build executive‑level relationships with carriers and wholesalers to secure favorable terms.
Communicate effectively within the team and with markets, collaborating on client‑facing strategies.
Provide mentorship and training to Placement Specialists and Account Teams; champion continuous improvement.
Review policies and contracts, prepare property and casualty submissions, and develop financial models for loss‑sensitive programs.
Use rating tools and carrier systems when applicable to assist quoting and proposal development.
Maintain all licensing requirements, including continuing education.
Attend seminars, meetings, carrier events, and educational activities to enhance expertise.
Perform coverage gap analysis and deliver strategic coverage recommendations.
Work independently and in team on special, non‑recurring, and ongoing projects.
Engage Risk Resources for specialized expertise and partner on tailored solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong organizational skills; ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize.
Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
Attention to detail in document accuracy.
Team‑orientated with strong customer service skills.
Experience with broker/agent marketing large middle‑market accounts to carriers; deep market knowledge.
Proficiency in all basic applicable insurance coverages.
Proficient in creating proposal presentation documents.
Education and Experience
7+ years of relevant insurance experience with emphasis on large commercial account placements.
College degree preferred.
Current applicable insurance license required.
Pursuit of professional designation (CRM, CISR, CIC, AAI, ARM, CPCU) preferred.
Excellent phone etiquette and written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong critical thinking, financial analysis, and negotiation skills.
Able to work with minimal supervision and accept directions.
Proficient with MS Office, especially Excel and Word.
Experience with Applied Epic a plus.
Candidates
