Old Dominion University – Outreach and Engagement Coordinator Role Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and organized Outreach and Engagement Coordinator to promote the academic programs within the Interdisciplinary Schools at Old Dominion University (ODU). The Coordinator will coordinate and execute outreach initiatives, facilitate engagement activities, and support admissions-related events to enhance student engagement and retention.

Base Pay Range $15.49 per hour

Responsibilities

Coordinate and execute outreach initiatives to promote ODU’s academic programs.

Plan and support engagement activities and admissions-related events to enhance student engagement.

Serve as the primary point of contact for scheduling, confirming, and inviting faculty and staff to participate in outreach and engagement efforts.

Assist with event logistics including venue setup, transportation, and equipment handling.

Maintain event records and follow up with stakeholders to gauge impact and improve future engagement efforts.

Qualifications

Some experience in an administrative support role.

Experience using email marketing software.

Some experience working in a university setting.

Skills in marketing, graphic design, and procurement tasks.

Excellent customer service, organizational, and communication skills.

Strong problem solving and attention to detail.

Adaptability to changing schedules and ability to load and pull equipment on campus.

Employment Type & Hours Part‑time position, 29 hours per week on average (or 1500 hours in total during the May 1 – April 30 period). May include evenings or weekends. Event support may be required at locations in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, or other Hampton Roads locations.
