Job Summary Job Summary

Lincoln Saltdogs is looking for a high performing, results‑oriented individual to join our team as the Field Manager! The person in this position will have a strong background for all on‑field baseball operations for Lincoln Professional Baseball with extensive knowledge of professional baseball operations. The Field Manager will be responsible for implementing all areas of the daily management of the baseball team including player recruitment, lineups, practices and game day management for Lincoln Professional Baseball. The Field Manager is required to be present for all regular season home and away games, all spring training practices/exhibition games and any postseason games. Must abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Works with General Manager to ensure coordination between baseball operations and business operations.

Responsible for carrying out the overall team performance for Lincoln Professional Baseball.

Oversee and responsible for the recruiting and evaluation of players to potentially sign players to the Lincoln Professional Baseball roster and will serve as primary contact with all league officials, agents, scouting directors, minor and major league baseball coordinators as it pertains to the baseball operations department and the recruitment of players.

Oversee and responsible for the building of the roster and overall player procurement processes, ensuring appropriate communication with current players, agents, scouting directors, minor and major league baseball coordinators to meet the needs for the team’s roster.

Prepares and produces all advance scouting materials in conjunction with the baseball coaching staff for the Lincoln Saltdogs. Facilitates the usage of these materials in conjunction with the baseball coaching staff in pre‑game meetings and provides in‑game support and insights from the field/dugout.

Oversee all on‑field activities during all regular season home games, away games, spring training practices/exhibition games and any postseason games including daily workouts, practices, lineups, and game execution.

Communicates roster updates with the General Manager, Athletic Trainer and Media Relations staff as it pertains to schedules, roster changes, player availability, while also communicating injury status to appropriate internal stakeholders.

Maintains a positive and professional relationship with players, agents, scouting directors, minor and major league baseball coordinators, media, sponsors, league officials, front office staff and fans, while assuring coaching staff and players are held to the same standard.

Represent Lincoln Pro Baseball/NEBCO, Inc. in a positive and professional manner at all times, while assuring coaching staff and players are held accountable to the same standards, while promoting sportsmanship, accountability, discipline, and teamwork among players and coaching staff.

Implement sound fiscal and financial management practices, including managing the team’s salary cap with the General Manager.

Actively participate in community events/appearances as requested by the General Manager and or Community Relations Manager and encourage coaching staff and players to as well.

Provides input on game‑day operations, promotions, and community events to enhance the fan experience.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities None

Education and/or Experience

Certification or Degree in sports management, coaching, or related field; and

previous field manager or coaching experience in a sports and/or recreational environment; or

equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

Valid NE drivers’ license record and be insurable under the company’s insurance program.

Other Skills and Abilities

Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment, managing competing demands, frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.

Must have a high degree of attention to detail.

Prior coaching or managerial experience at the collegiate, professional, or summer league level.

Strong understanding of baseball strategy, player development, and game management.

Ability to motivate and connect with players of diverse backgrounds.

Must have excellent oral communication, customer service and problem‑solving skills with the ability to function in a fast‑paced environment handling multiple projects.

Must have strong people skills that are able to motivate people to achieve goals.

Must understand the need for a sense of urgency during certain times of the year.

Must be able to work evenings and weekends extended and/or irregular hours, including nights, weekends coinciding with the Lincoln Saltdogs baseball season schedule, holidays as needed and additional facility events.

Must have excellent and professional verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to apply concepts of basic accounting and inventory tracking required.

Computer knowledge on Microsoft Office Suite and database management systems.
