Overview Citi continues to enhance its business control and governance framework by building out Institutional Credit Management (ICM), a first line of defense business line, to house and consistently manage credit risk activities for institutional clients. The Credit Underwriting function within ICM provides credit analysis, underwriting, and first line of defense credit approval for periodic/material transaction reviews and ongoing monitoring for all institutional business, including Corporate Banking, Services, and Markets relationships. ICM Credit Analysts own the production of credit risk analysis for a portfolio of relationships, performing annual and quarterly reviews and supporting ad‑hoc transactions and other deliverables. The analyst is expected to bring a strong understanding of credit risk, Cit’s internal policies, and industry fundamentals, and to carry thoughtful conversations with partners. This role manages the NAM Diverse Financials portfolio, including Non‑Bank Financial Institutions, FinTechs, and Financial Market Infrastructure counterparties.

Key Responsibilities

Assess the credit and financial strength of Citi’s Large Financial Institutions clients through fundamental analysis using quantitative and qualitative factors.

Complete Credit Approval Memos (CAMs) and Final Obligor Risk Ratings (FORRs) based on independent assessment and judgment.

Continuously monitor the covered portfolio, tracking industry trends, relationship impacts, and escalating potential credit issues to team leads, senior management, and business partners.

Partner with regional and industry stakeholders to implement credit assessment and monitoring standards.

Support ICM Risk Analysis Voice of the Employee (VOE) initiatives.

Travel (less than 10%) as required.

Skills & Competencies Risk & Credit Underwriting

Intermediate analytical skills, including understanding liquidity position, leverage profile, and root cause analysis.

Knowledgeable in financial statements and GAAP accounting for the country of operation.

Strong industry research capabilities, including risk drivers.

Deep understanding of Credit Policy and procedures; proactively refers to resources as needed.

Ability to identify and promptly escalates potential risk issues.

Qualifications

2‑5 years of experience in a financial institution focused on credit analysis and spreading software.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Economics, Engineering, Operations Research, Business Finance, or Mathematics.

Previous experience in credit risk management or equivalent training in the financial services industry.

Ability to apply credit and risk principles toward business goals.

Demonstrated synthesis, prioritization, and results‑driving with a high sense of urgency.

Highly organized, able to work in a fast‑paced environment managing multiple projects.

Strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytic skills.

Education

Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience.
