Personal Financial Counselor, Assignment Ready Counselor — Alexandria, LA
Join Magellan Federal as a National Military Contractor to provide personal financial counseling across short‑term surge and on‑demand scenarios in support of military operations. This position covers full‑scope personal financial counseling for service members and their families at military installations.
Key Responsibilities
Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and families.
Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
Develop and distribute informational financial materials to service members and families.
Coordinate, publicize, and facilitate a variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering topics across the military lifecycle.
Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
Utilize virtual counseling or electronic communication methods such as secure web‑chat, video teleconference, or other approved electronic modes.
Manage duty‑to‑warn situations per DoD protocol.
Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision, sharing trends and incidents.
Participate in regular in‑services/training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required.
Associate degree plus 4 years’ experience, or high school diploma plus 6 years’ experience, may be considered.
Minimum 3 years of financial counseling experience.
U.S. citizenship and fluent English required.
Bilingual in English & Spanish if contract requires.
Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosure for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
One of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $53,125 – $84,995. May be eligible for short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, life, voluntary and other perks.
