Job Overview The Dietary Manager assists the dietitian in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall Food Services Department to ensure quality nutritional services on a daily basis while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary department.

Essential Duties

Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the Food Services Department and its programs and activities.

Coordinate food services with other departments (nursing, environmental, activity, social services, etc.).

Develop and maintain written food services policies and procedures.

Develop and maintain written job descriptions and performance evaluations for food services personnel.

Interpret policies and procedures to employees, residents, visitors, government agencies, etc.

Assist staff in developing and using departmental policies, procedures, equipment, supplies, etc.

Obtain and maintain material safety data sheets for hazardous chemicals used or stored in the department, ensuring staff awareness.

Qualifications

High school diploma minimum.

Graduate of an accredited course in dietetic training approved by the American Dietetic Association.

Minimum five (5) years of management experience in a hospital, nursing care facility, or related medical facility; CDM (Certified Dietary Manager) preferred; knowledge of PointClickCare a plus.

Training in cost control, food management, diet therapy, etc.

Registered as a Dietary Supervisor in state.

Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Independent decision‑making ability.

Tactful interpersonal skills with residents, families, visitors, government agencies, and public.

Knowledge of food services practices, laws, regulations, and guidelines in nursing care facilities.

Leadership ability and willingness to supervise personnel.

Plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret Food Services Department programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures.

Maintain appearance of food services service areas and perform regular inspections for sanitation, order, safety, and proper performance of duties.

Successful background check, pre‑employment physical, and drug screening required.
