Position Overview Store Protection Specialist
– Your presence at store entrances and exits mitigates theft and fraud, ensuring a safe environment for associates and customers. You greet guests with a friendly, command presence, monitor safety, and partner with leadership to meet loss‑prevention goals.
Essential Functions
Provide a visible “command” presence, greet customers with eye contact and a friendly smile, and monitor entrances–exits and sales floors.
Maintain a safe environment: remove clutter, keep emergency exits clear, and practice safe behaviors.
Support and train associates on loss‑prevention procedures, observe checkout practices, and reduce operational shortage.
Respond to theft or safety incidents in accordance with company policy.
Maintain professional appearance and uphold the Ross brand.
Competencies
Manages work processes effectively.
Demonstrates business acumen and prioritization.
Builds and maintains relationships with the store team.
Collaborates and communicates effectively.
Leads by example, ensuring accountability and execution.
Qualifications & Special Skills Required
High school education or equivalent (AA degree preferred).
One year of retail supervisory experience or similar training preferred.
One year of loss prevention/security training preferred.
Active Security Guard license preferred.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to resolve conflict effectively.
Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
Compliance with all applicable federal and state security regulations.
Physical Requirements / ADA
Consistency of timeliness and regular attendance.
Spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
Raise or lower objects more than 25 lbs. (includes upward pulling).
Regularly bend, stoop, or crouch; frequency and duration vary by business need.
