We are seeking a skilled Construction Accounting Specialist to join our team and support financial operations within a dynamic construction environment. The Construction Accounting Specialist will be responsible for day-to-day accounts payable and receivable, and change order tracking, as well as collaborating with project managers to ensure accurate and timely billing. This is an ideal opportunity for a detail-oriented industry accounting specialist. Key Responsibilities for the Accounting Specialist: Manage job costing activities, including cost code setup, budget tracking, and cost variance analysis. Oversee accounts receivable: process payment applications, conduct aging reviews, and coordinate lien waivers. Handle accounts payable: reconcile vendor statements, process invoices with proper documentation, and ensure lien waiver compliance. Track and manage change orders and Potential Change Orders (PCOs) from initial entry to final billing. Review and support compliance with construction contracts, pay application requirements, retention, and state-specific lien laws. Partner with project managers and operations teams to align billing schedules and change order timelines. Operate within multi-project, fast-paced job environments, maintaining accuracy and organization. Utilize construction accounting software (e.g., Viewpoint Spectrum, Sage, Foundation, QuickBooks Contractor Edition) and demonstrate strong Excel skills. The Construction Accounting Specialist will play a vital role in supporting our financial processes, ensuring compliance, and driving efficiency across multiple active projects. Requirements Qualifications: 3-5 years of construction accounting experience, ideally with a specialty trade contractor (masonry, concrete, framing, steel, or similar). Strong background in job costing and cost control. Familiarity with construction contract terms, retention, and pay applications. Working knowledge of lien laws and waiver requirements (state-specific preferred). Experience in multi-project environments, collaborating with operations and project management. Proficiency in construction accounting systems and Excel. Preferred: Previous experience in masonry or labor-intensive trades, and prior roles such as Project Accountant, Construction Accountant, or Senior Accounting Specialist.
