Context The Finance Department at GEM covers both Business Control and Middle Office activities. Within this scope, the
Middle Office Market Access team
provides support to the Market Access Business Platform (BP) and other BPs, ensuring robust analysis and monitoring of trading and origination deals.
The Market Access platform combines:
Market Making
(interacting with Sales on client portfolios),
Internal Risk Management
(hedging positions taken by other BPs in energy commodity markets).
Your mission will be key to the production of GEM’s economic results, the valuation of positions, and the preparation of financial reports. Calculations are based on traders’ market operations, which you will review, challenge, and analyze (exposures, market parameters, consistency checks).
You will work on a
broad and diversified product scope —Gas, Power, Oil, and Green products—covering both vanilla and structured transactions. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain strong expertise across dynamic and growing commodity markets.
The Middle Office Market Access team works closely with Front Office and Finance teams across Europe, the US, Singapore, and Australia.
Your Responsibilities Produce and control the
daily economic P&L
(Gas, Oil, Power).
Analyze
Mark-to-Market valuations
of Front Office transactions.
Explain and challenge results through risk indicators: Greeks, MtM evolution, exposures, market parameters.
Monitor and comment on traders’ and sales performance (P&L, value at inception, traded volumes).
Assess
strategy and client profitability .
Provide
operational support
to Front Office and respond to ad hoc management requests.
Participate in
month-end closings
and related controls.
Manage the Front Office book structure.
Contribute to
strategic projects : calibration of thresholds, data management, MtM monitoring, P&L and VAI computation and analysis.
About You Background & Experience Degree in Market Finance or Quantitative Finance (Engineering School, University, or Business School).
First experience in a related field (Middle Office, Back Office, Market Risk, Sales, Trading Assistant) or a strong interest in commodity markets.
Fl English (daily working language).
Strong skills in
VBA, Python, SQL
are highly valued.
Knowledge of
Dataiku
and
Power BI
is a plus.
Familiarity with
valuation and pricing models
in a commodities environment.
Curious, rigorous, dynamic, and eager to grow in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
Strong adaptability and appetite for challenge.
