Summary We are hiring an experienced Senior Marine Electrician to join our flagship base in Tortola, British Virgin Islands. This role involves handling all electrical systems and issues aboard our yachts. The position requires flexibility with working hours based on operational needs. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity.
What you will be doing:
Complete electrical repairs on the yachts within agreed timescales
Reviewing 110v and PV charging systems and confirming inverter operation
Rebuild components wherever possible before requesting new parts & items
Coordinate purchasing of electrical inventory with the supervisor (including electrical, electronic, refrigeration, air conditioning components, sanitation systems, water makers, and water supply systems); be responsible for having adequate but not excessive inventory on hand
Report and review recurrent electrical problems with line manager
Actively involve self in repairs or retrofit projects on all yachts
Assist with the enforcement of control mechanisms designed to stop waste
Keep the work areas clean, organised, and safe. Ensure all work surroundings are free from electrical and fire hazard.
Report any defects or potential defects you notice whilst carrying out duties using the digital maintenance platform
Any other duties as directed by your line manager or the Base Manager
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Skilled experience as an electrician in a similar role
Understanding of 12v, 110v and 220v systems
Able to work unsupervised and meet tight deadlines
Good operational knowledge of yachts equipment/switch board
Ability to lift 50 lbs weight
Ability to operate and maintain department tools and equipment
Ability to identify and recommend retrofit programs to reduce technical problems
Yachting experience and able to manoeuvre yachts (desirable)
Able to swim
Practically minded with an ability to solve problems
Positive personality
A strong team player
