Event Coordinator – Michaels Stores
Store: WAUSAU, WI
Responsibilities
Plan and coordinate multiple events simultaneously, including children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and other in‑store events.
Engage with clients of all ages (4 to 94+), creating an environment of fun and creativity.
Demonstrate and instruct participants in completing craft projects, perform face painting, and other activities.
Facilitate party add‑ons such as goody bags and balloons, ensuring company standards are met.
Communicate event details with clients and store team members.
Complete administrative tasks: answering emails, making phone calls, and filling out paperwork as needed.
Adjust plans and events based on client feedback and needs.
Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as required.
Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
Maintain cleanliness and safety standards: set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.
Assist with truck unload, stocking, and planogram (POG) processes.
Perform store recovery and maintenance duties.
Engage customers in rewards program enrollment and Voice of Customer (VOC) survey participation.
Support omni‑channel processes (BOPIS, SFS) and participate in daily store cleanliness activities.
Qualifications
Energetic, enthusiastic, and personable.
Excellent people skills; able to handle job stress while interacting with guests of all ages and coworkers.
Strong communication skills (written, verbal, nonverbal) and listening skills.
Organizational, interpersonal, and creative problem‑solving skills.
Retail and/or customer service experience required.
Experience working with children and children’s events preferred.
Cross‑trained in custom framing selling and production.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain standing for long periods of time.
Ability to move throughout the store.
Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching.
Lift heavy boxes and access high shelves via ladder or similar equipment.
Public retail store setting; some outdoor work may be required (e.g., retrieving carts, unloading trucks).
Work hours may include nights, weekends, and early mornings.

Work Environment
Climate‑controlled public areas; some stock rooms may not be climate‑controlled.
Frame shop contains glass cutter and heat press equipment.
Safety focus: adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company policies.
