Lecturer, Industrial Design – Rochester Institute of Technology Join – apply for the Lecturer, Industrial Design position at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). This is a non‑tenure‑track, full‑time faculty role focused on teaching and advancing the Industrial Design (ID) program. Detailed Job Description The School of Design invites applicants to teach in the undergraduate and graduate ID curricula. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to teach comprehensively across the Industrial Design program, leading studio and lecture courses and contributing to innovative teaching and curriculum development. Responsibilities include: teaching full load (four courses per term); participating in program and school service; providing career advising, student mentorship; and engaging in professional organizations important to industrial design. Successful applicants will also demonstrate leadership and strategic vision for advancing the program, with a strong emphasis on integrating emerging technologies and methodologies into the curriculum. Required Minimum Qualifications A terminal degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Interaction Design (MFA, MID, PhD) or a related field of study. Minimum of two years of professional experience or extensive consulting in a relevant field. Three years or equivalent experience teaching lecture and/or studio courses at the university level. Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in one or more of the following: product design, user experience and interaction design, automotive design, service design, design and sustainability, materials design, design drawing, design and technology, emerging industrial design practices, design theory, design history, design methodology. Demonstrated technical skills such as visualization, communication, modeling, AI tools, and prototyping common in design practice in both professional and student work.
