As an ACT Independent Living Specialist, you will help our most vulnerable members learn the skills they need to live independently. You will serve as the independent living skills specialist for the ACT team, but you will also collaborate with the team to help members develop roles for themselves outside of their mental illness while focusing on expected outcomes of increased employment, meaningful community activity, social network, and decreased substance use/abuse, as well as independent living status.

REQUIREMENTS
Education, Certification, and Experience Requirements
Must possess one of the following:
Master's or bachelor's degree with a behavioral health or related field
Bachelor's degree in a non-related field PLUS one year related experience
Associate's degree in any field PLUS one year related experience
High school diploma or equivalency certificate PLUS three years' related experience
Minimum one year working with seriously mentally ill adults required; previous experience working on an ACT team or equivalent experience preferred.
Minimum one (1) year experience teaching independent living skills to disabled individuals required.
Must maintain current CPR, First Aid, and Therapeutic Options certifications (offered through Southwest Network)
Must maintain a valid Arizona driver's license and car insurance
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Knowledge, Ability, and Skills
Requires extensive knowledge and/or previous experience in independent living skills training, services, and resources.
Must have the ability to maintain excellent member and family relationships and provide excellent customer service
Requires effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to stay organized and have critical thinking, time management and problem solving skills are a must
Ability to utilize multiple types of office equipment (i.e. phones, copier, fax, etc.)
Ability to type 25 to 40 WPM is preferred
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software

Our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program focuses on providing intense, frequent, face‑to‑face services to members with persistent and severe mental illness and/or substance use disorders. Its primary goal is recovery through community treatment and habilitation. Most services are provided in the community, when and where members need them. ACT services reduce crises and helps members learn skills that are needed to integrate into the community and live independently without supports. This evidence‑based practice helps improve outcomes for people who are most at‑risk of homelessness, psychiatric hospitalization, and institutional recidivism.
