The opportunity
Private Tax is a growing practice within EY, serving privately held companies and their owners and families. These clients range from family‑owned businesses to private equity‑owned companies, all high‑growth private entities. In this role you’ll handle technically demanding tax planning and compliance projects, act as a key contact for clients and colleagues, and collaborate cross‑border and cross‑functionally. EY supports your development of technical tax knowledge, professional leadership, and business acumen.
Your Key Responsibilities
Depending on your skills and ambitions, you may manage technical planning and advising for clients that include private entities (C‑Corp, S‑Corp, partnerships) and high‑profile individuals. You’ll be a trusted advisor and role model, coach and develop a highly trained team, and maintain quality and commercial value. You’ll also work with partners to develop account strategies and identify additional services for clients.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with significant tax, business, or financial planning experience and a CPA certification or bar membership.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in professional services or a professional tax organization.
- Thorough understanding of estate and wealth planning; experience with federal and state personal and trust income tax.
- Experience with flow‑through entities (S‑Corps, partnerships, LLCs).
- Experience with C‑Corps including income tax provisions and consolidated federal and state tax returns.
- Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills, and confidence to challenge senior colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
- Understanding of automated tax processing systems and relevant laws.
- Experience managing budgets and projects.
- Willingness to travel as needed and ability to work in a balanced hybrid environment.

- A proven record in a professional services environment.
- Experience coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.
- Executive presence and business development skills.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt your work style to collaborate with internal and client teams.

What We Offer You
- A comprehensive compensation and benefits package: Base salary for all geographic locations in the US is $132,100–$301,600. For the New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) it is $158,500–$342,700. Total Rewards include medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off.
- A hybrid model: most external, client‑serving roles work in person 40–60% of the time.
