Underwriting Specialist - Management Liability
Zurich North America is hiring an Underwriting Specialist – Management Liability to work primarily in San Francisco, CA, with a hybrid remote option. In this role you will analyze and underwrite new and renewal business for financial lines products for private, nonprofit companies.
Key Accountabilities
- Administer and monitor underwriting rules, guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) to support business retention and acquisition.
- Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities and identify growth opportunities.
- Qualify accounts and conduct opportunity assessments with key distributors.
- Support a sales culture by acting as a help point for agents, brokers, and customers.
- Mentor team members.
Basic Qualifications – Underwriting Specialist
- High School Diploma or equivalent with 3+ years in underwriting or market‑facing area, OR 6+ years in claims or underwriting support, OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with appropriate work experience.
- Knowledge of line‑of‑business and legal/regulatory guidelines.
- Experience with time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Basic Qualifications – Executive Underwriter
- High School Diploma or equivalent with 5+ years in underwriting or market‑facing area, OR 10+ years in claims or underwriting support, OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with required experience.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Experience with time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong relationship‑building skills.
Compensation
Base salary range: $96,600.00 – $209,300.00. Short‑term incentive bonus eligibility: 10–15% of base. Eligibility for bonuses and merit increases.
