Underwriting Specialist - Management Liability
Zurich North America is hiring an Underwriting Specialist – Management Liability to work primarily in San Francisco, CA, with a hybrid remote option. In this role you will analyze and underwrite new and renewal business for financial lines products for private, nonprofit companies.
Key Accountabilities
Administer and monitor underwriting rules, guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations.
Develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) to support business retention and acquisition.
Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities and identify growth opportunities.
Qualify accounts and conduct opportunity assessments with key distributors.
Support a sales culture by acting as a help point for agents, brokers, and customers.
Mentor team members.
Basic Qualifications – Underwriting Specialist
High School Diploma or equivalent with 3+ years in underwriting or market‑facing area, OR 6+ years in claims or underwriting support, OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with appropriate work experience.
Knowledge of line‑of‑business and legal/regulatory guidelines.
Experience with time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Basic Qualifications – Executive Underwriter
High School Diploma or equivalent with 5+ years in underwriting or market‑facing area, OR 10+ years in claims or underwriting support, OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with required experience.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Experience with time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong relationship‑building skills.
Compensation Base salary range: $96,600.00 – $209,300.00. Short‑term incentive bonus eligibility: 10–15% of base. Eligibility for bonuses and merit increases.
