Heavy Equipment Mechanic Location: Thompson, OH
Covia is looking for a dynamic Heavy Equipment Mechanic who will have a positive impact on the Operations team. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will maintain, diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, such as front‑end loaders, bulldozers, skid steers, plant trucks, and more.
Key Accountabilities
Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy‑duty equipment and vehicles
Diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment
Adjusting equipment and replacing faulty parts
Repairing damaged equipment parts
Performing major repair work as needed
Testing and verifying correct operation of all repairs and adjustments
Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to management
Completing related paperwork and accessing databases required to complete job orders, parts orders, and other documentation accurately and timely
Performing other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Proven work experience as a Diesel or Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Certification as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or an associate degree in Applied Diesel Technology, preferred
Knowledge of database software, internet software, and manufacturer software
Proficient use of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, laptops, diagnostic software, and cranes and rigging equipment
Product knowledge of gas, diesel, electrical, electronic, and mechanical components
