Senior Refrigeration Design Engineer – Orlando, FL
We are hiring a Senior Refrigeration Design Engineer for a fast‑paced commercial construction firm in the Orlando, FL area. The role is a direct hire on site and requires a minimum of 5 years current experience in commercial refrigeration design. Salary range: $120,000 – $140,000 annually. RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluate whole commercial refrigeration systems (primarily parallel compression “racks”) for condition, capacity, and efficiency. Survey existing systems and maintain pertinent system architecture information. Perform refrigeration load calculations as needed. Arrange loads on appropriate compressor suction groups. Calculate compressor and condenser capacity and select new equipment as required. Specify alternate system types such as condensing units, distributed systems, and secondary pumped systems. Learn about new system types such as CO₂ Trans‑critical systems. Generate refrigeration designs in compliance with all applicable local and state codes, owner specifications, and design guidelines. REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering (or related). Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial refrigeration design. Current working knowledge of discipline‑specific codes and other building codes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Leadership skills to educate clients and guide project teams. Strong coordination skills with multidisciplinary teams. Proficiency in engineering calculations, design, and CAD tools (Revit, AutoCAD). Experience collaborating with mechanical, structural, electrical, HVAC, and other disciplines. Ability to meet fast‑paced deadlines and maintain high professional standards.
