What to Expect
The Operations Leader of Semi Powertrain will be responsible for meeting production forecasts and driving continuous improvement through the manufacturing process. They will provide hands‑on support, and direction to the operations team. This role will ensure quality and safety of the operation while driving continuous improvement of manufacturing. The ideal candidate strives to create an environment that is productive, encourages open communication, and strives to foster a collaborative environment that is exciting and fun.
This position will be based in our Gigafactory Nevada campus.
What You'll Do
Responsible for production including daily production planning, delivery to plan, production cost, first time yield, safety, quality targets, and production staffing
Maintain high product quality, safety and yield while ensuring optimal cost, use of resources and adherence to best safety practices
Ensure high availability of the facility and equipment in optimal operating conditions through implementation of a preventative maintenance system and taking appropriate corrective actions where needed
Hire, coach, lead and develop large scale teams made up of salaried and hourly team members
Support upgrades, new product and material introductions by supporting design teams, creating process plans, tracking budget costs and project schedules and developing countermeasures for timely completion of project goals
Drive Safety and Environmental compliance
Drive high quality standards in everything we do such as process control systems, monitoring and managing key product metrics, consistency in documentation, and 5S initiatives
Develop and deliver continuous improvement initiatives in safety, environmental, quality, cost, efficiency, and productivity objectives. Provide feedback to management on issues; benchmark other organizations for best practices
Lead by example of positive reinforcement and make Tesla a World Class Manufacturing organization
Collaborate across boundaries for the best outcome by working with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Engineering, and Test and Quality departments
What You'll Bring
Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience with 10+ experience in high-volume, high-speed manufacturing; 5+ years leadership or equivalent experience
Proven leadership and experience in battery and drivetrain manufacturing
Heavy truck or automotive manufacturing/assembly a plus
Experience with introduction of new products and materials
Ability to work well under pressure, manage competing demands and meet tight deadlines with strong follow through
Ability to foster a close working relationship with team members and management
High-level leadership and decision-making skills
The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, self-motivated, well organized, and able to pro-actively communicate with all employees and works well in a fast-paced multi-cultural environment
Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
A strong sense of urgency and drive
