Position Overview The category development manager is responsible for gaining a complete understanding of a specific category, identifying trends, missed opportunities and growth potential of product selections. This role relies heavily on data analysis.
Ownership of ensuring new item set‑up in stores and online moves forward to completion.
Weekly sales results, strategic modular results and rollback results.
Complete and consistent ownership of the analysis and communication to the Bentonville team and corporate divisions.
Use NPD data for a deeper level of analysis to obtain market trends.
Identify gaps and opportunities within assortment.
Identify current trends - material/function/brands including awareness of social media trends, color/pattern/finish materials, functions.
Analyze any advertising and promotional impact on sales results.
Identify competitive threats.
Facilitate market audits.
Capture and analyze assortment shifts (brands, materials, functions, retail).
Identify new potential licenses - chefs, celebrities, cross‑category brands.
Complete Walmart tactical modular analysis.
In‑depth strategic development of the modular and promotion.
Qualifications
Prior product analysis experience.
2‑3 years of relevant experience.
Bachelor's Degree.
