Family's Introduction to Nanny Hi! Thank you for your interest! We’d love to introduce our family and share a bit about life here. Our family includes Max, originally from Asheville, and his wife Gwen, from Toulouse, France — we’re both around 40 years old. We have a joyful toddler daughter named Kira and four cats (who, by the way, are not allowed in the private suite reserved for you). We’re preparing to welcome our second baby, due in February 2026. We would love for you to be part of our family while also giving you plenty of privacy. You’ll have your own space with a private entrance through our yoga studio, including a spacious bedroom, private bathroom, and kitchenette. Check out our pictures to see how it looks like. We’re looking for someone aged 50 or above, as we believe having a mix of generations under one roof benefits everyone. Before settling here on this beautiful land, we met in Australia, lived for several years in China, and then in Brooklyn, NY. We are passionate about cultural exchange, curious about everything, just like our daughter! We all share a love for languages, physical exercise, home cooking, healthy living, and animals. We (Max & Gwen) have both volunteered at the local fire station, although since having Kira, we’ve had less time for it, but that should change when you come to help us :). Live-In Childcare Helper Details (Part-Time, 20–25 hrs/week) – Polk, NC We are seeking a caring, responsible, and flexible live-in childcare helper to assist part-time (20–25 hours per week, flexible) with our young children. This role offers a unique opportunity to live in the area of Tryon, peaceful artsy small town nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. You’ll enjoy a beautiful lakefront home in a gated community, access to wellness amenities (home yoga studio and gym + access / paddleboard & kayak on the lake / walking trails), and the chance to be part of a warm, bilingual family. The area offers stunning scenery, and outdoor activities, along with a tight-knit community of local shops and cultural events — all while being just a short drive from Asheville.
Responsibilities
Supervise and engage our toddler, ensuring safety and happiness (she plays independently at times)
Assist with daily routines such as meals, naps, and playtime
Provide light childcare support for our baby (due February 2026) as needed while Mama is nearby
Help maintain a tidy, child-friendly living space
Occasionally prepare simple snacks or meals for the children
Flexibility to adjust hours as family needs change (some weekends or evenings possible - but would be agreed on in advance)
Accommodation & Amenities You will have a fully furnished private basement suite (~460 sq ft) featuring: Spacious bedroom with dining corner and lake view, Private bathroom, Micro kitchen, Independent AC/heating controls. Additional perks include: Private entrance through our yoga studio, Access to paddleboards and kayak on the lake, Use of yoga, gym, and dance studio, Easy access to trails and nature, Utilities included (electricity, water, Wi-Fi). You are welcome to join family dinners on weekdays at your discretion.
Compensation
Monthly stipend: $1,000
Free housing & utilities included as part of the employment package
