After‑School Nanny (Part‑Time with Occasional Overnight)
Location: Mesa, AZ 85215
Start Date: May 5, 2025 (flexible)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 2:00 PM – Bedtime (approx. 8:00–9:00 PM)
Pay Range: $20–$28 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications)
About Us We’re a busy family of four located in Mesa, AZ, with two elementary‑school‑aged children (ages 9 and 6). Both children are active in karate, gymnastics, and youth sports, and love learning new things—especially languages. Both children are currently in the Arizona foster care program, meaning our selected nanny must pass specific fingerprint and background checks required by the Department of Child Safety (DCS).
Key Responsibilities
After‑School Routine: Pick up the kids from school or meet them at home around 2:00 PM; supervise and engage them in activities until bedtime.
Homework & Enrichment: Assist with school assignments, read together, and encourage productive after‑school habits.
Driving: Transport children to after‑school activities (karate, gymnastics, youth sports) using your own reliable vehicle (or a family‑provided vehicle, if arranged).
Meal Prep & Light Housekeeping: Plan and prepare simple, healthy dinners. Tidy up kitchen and living spaces used during the day.
Bilingual Support (Spanish): Help the children practice conversational Spanish in a fun, age‑appropriate way.
Overnight Coverage (3–4 Times a Year): Stay with the kids for up to a week at a time when parents are traveling; follow any specific instructions for daily routines, school drop‑offs, and extracurricular activities.
Requirements
Previous nanny, childcare, or teaching/tutoring experience with elementary‑age children.
Arizona DCS Clearance: Willingness to undergo fingerprinting and background checks as required by the AZ foster care program.
Reliable Transportation & Clean Driving Record: Must be comfortable driving children to and from activities.
Schedule Flexibility: Available Monday – Friday, 2 PM – 8/9 PM, and able to handle 3–4 overnight trips throughout the year with at least 30 days’ notice.
CPR/First Aid Certification (Preferred): We strongly encourage formal training to ensure the safety and well‑being of our children.
Non‑Smoker: A healthy environment is important to us.
Comfort with Pets (If Applicable): Please let us know if you’re comfortable around animals if we have or plan to have pets.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) Preferred: Desire to teach or reinforce basic Spanish conversation skills.
