We’re hiring and training Canvass Directors to make an impact on some of the most important problems of our time – protecting wildlife and wild places, eliminating plastic waste that is polluting our oceans, ensuring clean air to breathe and clean water to drink, and more.

Pay Range $38,250.00/yr – $53,750.00/yr (Base pay range). Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience. Discuss further with your recruiter.

About the Role Direct and lead grassroots canvassing campaigns to educate, engage, and mobilize people across the country. Work one‑on‑one, face‑to‑face conversations on America’s front doorsteps, building lasting public support for environmental solutions. Exercise discretion and independent judgment in significant decisions. Manage your own team, including hiring, training, and performance management.

Key Responsibilities

Educate and engage the public on campaigns such as protecting wildlife, moving beyond single‑use plastics, and stopping electronic waste.

Build support and fundraise for leading non‑profit groups working on environmental issues, including Environment America and PIRG.

Hire, train, and manage a team of canvassers.

Operate the most effective citizen outreach operation in the country, raising funds and mobilizing millions of people on important issues.

Qualifications We are looking for candidates with leadership experience, excellent communication skills, and a strong desire to achieve lasting, positive change. Candidates must be able to work independently, exercise good judgment, and meet staffing, campaign, and fieldwork goals.

Training Our comprehensive training program includes hands‑on experience in an existing canvass office, classroom‑style instruction on social‑change concepts, and ongoing advanced trainings on staff management, canvassing tactics, campaign strategy, and other relevant skills.

Location Canvass Directors must be geographically flexible. Current campaigns run in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Washington DC, Minnesota, Texas, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, and California. Directors may work on campaigns almost anywhere in the country.

Pay and Benefits Target annual compensation: $38,250 – $53,750. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents; paid sick time (60‑80 hours/year depending on location); vacation time (10 days in year 1, 15 days in year 2, 20 days in year 3 and thereafter); commuter benefit program; 401(k) plan with employer match; parental leave; long‑term disability insurance; and potential student‑loan assistance.
