Opportunity EY Private Tax is a growing practice focused on privately held companies. These clients span from family‑owned businesses to private equity‑owned companies. As many companies choose to remain private, this ever‑increasing group ranges from start‑ups to multi‑billion‑dollar global private companies. With a diverse portfolio of challenging work, you’ll impact technically demanding tax planning and compliance projects, with training from knowledgeable colleagues and opportunities to progress to senior manager.
Key Responsibilities
Preparing or reviewing federal and state tax returns for U.S. corporations and some partnerships, including foreign reporting requirements for cross‑border compliance.
Providing tax research, memoranda drafting, and quantitative modelling for private client advisory services.
Identifying and communicating significant tax matters to Senior Managers, Managing Directors and Partners.
Liaising and developing relationships with other service lines and subject‑matter professionals.
Building effective long‑term relationships with clients, understanding their unique needs to provide tailored service.
Communicating complex tax issues to non‑tax professionals and clients.
Maintaining technical knowledge and best‑practice knowledge.
Managing, coaching and developing a team of tax professionals, reviewing work and ensuring they have the tools and opportunities to excel.
Identifying and reacting to risks and opportunities to improve our services and processes.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in a related field, supported by tax, business or financial planning experience.
A CPA certification or membership in the Bar.
Prior experience with ASC 740 tax provisions.
Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills, and confidence to challenge colleagues and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
Minimum 5 years of work experience in professional services or a professional tax organization.
A commitment to continuous learning.
Proficiency with tax software such as RIA, CCH IntelliConnect, OneSource, BNA or Lexis Nexis.
Experience managing, coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.
Willingness to work in a balanced hybrid environment and travel as needed.

A comprehensive compensation and benefits package, with base salary ranging from $106,500 to $195,100 nationwide, and higher ranges for certain metro areas.
