This is an in‑person position in Amherst, NY.
Responsibilities
Lead the Personal Tax Department and oversee all individual tax return operations
Review and sign 1040s (personal income tax returns) with accuracy and compliance
Apply K-1s, investment activity, and other supporting schedules to individual returns
Review returns prepared by staff; provide clear notes, coaching, and quality control
Serve as a trusted resource for clients regarding their personal tax obligations and planning needs
Manage the tax calendar, deadlines, and workflow for the individual tax season
Collaborate with leadership and other tax departments to ensure a cohesive client experience
Stay updated on IRS guidelines and individual tax regulations
Support a professional, team‑oriented environment throughout peak tax periods
Qualifications
Enrolled Agent (EA) or CPA required
5+ years of experience preparing and reviewing individual tax returns
Strong understanding of 1040s, K-1s, investment income, deductions, credits, and tax law fundamentals
Excellent attention to detail and a genuine interest in personal tax work
Ability to manage deadlines and departmental workflow during busy seasons
Strong communication and client service skills
Comfortable reviewing returns, signing off as the responsible tax professional, and ensuring compliance
