Director of Manufacturing Engineering
Base pay range: $200,000.00/yr – $310,000.00/yr
You must be a US Citizen – no visa candidates. Speaking Spanish is a huge plus for this role.
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Director of Manufacturing Engineering to lead our engineering team in an aerospace manufacturing environment specializing in aluminum heat exchangers. This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for driving safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals while supporting operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead a team of 15–20 manufacturing engineers, ensuring processes, tooling, and equipment meet business objectives.
Develop and standardize manufacturing processes for heat exchangers, including tooling and fixture design.
Drive KPI achievement for shipping volume, on‑time delivery, backlog reduction, efficiency, and cost control.
Champion continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S methodologies.
Oversee Operational Excellence projects and cost‑reduction plans; report progress to senior leadership.
Collaborate cross‑functionally with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Production teams.
Provide technical support for process improvements, non‑conforming parts, and customer quality issues.
Manage capital equipment purchases and tooling upgrades.
Support manufacturing activities at Reynosa, Mexico facility (minimal travel required).
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Manufacturing Engineering preferred); MBA or advanced degree a plus.
8+ years in manufacturing, including leadership of salaried and hourly staff.
Experience in aerospace or military manufacturing environments with AS9100 compliance.
Strong background in machining, welding, brazing, heat treat, and chemical treatment processes.
Proven success in Lean, Six Sigma, and operational excellence initiatives.
Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to engage at all organizational levels.
Proficiency in MRP systems (Oracle preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Spanish fluency preferred.
Preferred Experience:
Build‑to‑order manufacturing in medium‑volume/high‑mix environments.
Familiarity with assembly, welding, brazing, machining, and testing processes.
Knowledge of Lean tools: VSM, Standard Work, Kanban, 5S, SMED, TPM, Six Sigma.
