Position Overview This role focuses on developing new business opportunities with companies of up to 50 employees. It involves independently managing the full sales cycle in a fast-paced, competitive, and quota-driven environment. Core responsibilities include generating leads, engaging prospective clients, and guiding them through a consultative sales process. Effectiveness relies on strong prospecting skills, consistency in executing a defined sales approach, and the ability to operate autonomously in the field.
Location: Remote in Houston, TX territory.
Reports To: Director of Sales.
Primary Responsibilities
Determine prospective customers’ needs for HR technology to prospective companies.
Present Paylocity’s tech stack to meet those needs in a specific geographic market.
Prepare and present proposals and provide timely follow-up throughout the sales process.
Complete and obtain documentation required for the conversion of data from the company’s previous payroll provider to the Paylocity system.
Work cross‑functionally to ensure the client has a smooth transition to Paylocity.
Use initiative, develop prospects through telemarketing, referrals, professional and personal contacts and other sources.
Build relationships with CPAs and maintain existing CPA relationships.
Attend Paylocity-sponsored trade shows, conferences and other events to promote Paylocity services.
Meet or exceed monthly and annual sales quota for your territory.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
HS diploma or equivalent required. College degree strongly desired.
1‑2 years’ proven experience in a sales position.
Ability and willingness to travel within assigned territory and meet prospects in person.
Ability to succeed in a competitive environment.
Ability to maintain high activity standards.
Critical thinking and decision‑making skills required to handle objections and unexpected situations throughout the sales cycle.
Customer service orientation.
Strong presentation, written and oral communication skills.
Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
Proficiency with MS Office applications and the Internet.
Physical Requirements
Ability to travel frequently by car, plane, or other transportation.
Ability to drive for extended periods to client meetings, industry events, and other locations.
Ability to lift and carry sales materials or promotional items up to 15 pounds when necessary.
Ability to stand, walk, or engage in active discussions with clients for extended periods.
Ability to navigate various environments, such as office buildings, trade shows, or outdoor spaces during sales visits.
Ability to operate a mobile device, laptop, and other sales technology while on the go.
Ability to communicate effectively in person, on the phone, and via email.
Ability to engage in repetitive motions such as typing, dialing, or writing for extended periods when preparing reports, proposals, or emails.

The pay range for this position is $48,000–$75,000/yr; base pay offered may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
