Our corporate headquarters is in Bellingham, WA and we have three year‑round locations in Washington State: Bellingham, Seattle, and Poulsbo. LFS also has five year‑round locations in Alaska: Anchorage, Cordova, Dutch Harbor, Homer (Kachemak Gear Shed), and Sitka; and two seasonal locations in Dillingham and Naknek. While our core business is supplying the commercial fishing industry, we have evolved to include industrial and sports netting sales, hydraulic sales and services, wholesale/industrial sales, recreational marine and outdoor sales, and internet sales.
Summary LFS Marine and Outdoor in Anchorage, AK is looking for a dynamic, hands‑on Manager to oversee the retail operation. The Manager is responsible for the day‑to‑day operation of the Anchorage location as well as working with the LFS Corporate Management Team to set, oversee, and report on business goals and standards. The Anchorage operation is a diverse operation that incorporates many different types of sales and services for the community as a leader in the following areas:
Commercial fishing sales
Retail sales
Charter and recreational fishing supplies
Hydraulic design, sales and repairs
Industrial and boat building supplies
Clothing and other soft goods products
Essential Functions
Development and implementation of strategic sales and marketing plans
Knowledge of, and experience in, all business disciplines
Develop new business relationships and maintain existing relationships
Budgeting and forecasting, scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances
Market analysis to determine customer needs, inventory levels and pricing
Monitor inventory levels and turn rates to ensure proper inventory levels for sales seasonality
Develop store strategies to expand store traffic and optimize profitability through sales promotions and events
Creation and maintenance of business policies, procedures and standards
Interacts with other managers in other disciplines to create or refine policies and processes to achieve growth and efficiencies
High level of customer service experience
Employee engagement, staff development and the establishment of standards for performance
Liaison between community and business; employers and management; management and other LFS divisions; management and LFS Corporate Management Team
Key metric accountability and improvement – sales, margin, turns, etc.
Exceptional communication skills
Meet sales goals by training, motivating, mentoring and providing feedback to store staff
Facilitates product training for self and staff
Works with Corporate Marketing to prepare promotional materials and displays
Create store merchandising plan and execute the plan
Coordinate participation and logistics of attendance at industry trade shows (e.g., Seattle Boat Show)
Travel to trade shows or buying shows may be required
Creation and communication of weekly employee schedules
Responsible for $1.5 million of inventory; working closely with the Inventory Control Manager to maintain accurate inventory numbers
Works alongside the Inventory Control Manager to coordinate and facilitate the annual physical inventory
Reports to the Director of Sales and Marketing
Additional Responsibilities
Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned
This is a full time, 40 hour per week, year‑round benefited position.

Minimum Requirements Required Qualifications
Four‑year degree (B.A.); or up to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred education and experience
Industry specific experience
Supervision or leadership experience
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift/move objects up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
