City Bean Roasters, LA pioneers of specialty coffee since 1992, is looking to hire a unique person for all forms of customer interface. This opening is perfect for the coffee professional, who has "paid their dues" behind the counter, to flourish and expand towards a career in coffee. The position will encompass a myriad of activities, including wholesale/retail education, consulting start-ups (menus, recipe books, drink creation, education), customer visits, sales prospecting, and bean shop. City Bean is a busy, 80% wholesale and 20% direct-to-consumer roasting works company. City Bean specializes in providing delicious coffee and tea to So Cal restaurants, hotels, bakeries, and specialty coffee shops, in addition to other roasting operations. The facility houses a 1926 Probat UG15 and a 1963 Probat G75. There is also a bean shop at the roastery. We operate in an employee-centered environment with horizontal hierarchy, democratic hiring, kindness, and a 20% after-tax profit sharing program. Education Educate wholesale customer staff on coffee, espresso, and tea Account Services Visit existing clients for QC, check-ins, training Horizontal expansion Follow up on in-house leads Prospect potential accounts Tastings / Demonstrations Other Assist with bean shop Practicing kindness Roastery activities Qualifications
Required Direct specialty coffee experience (4 years) Educator experience (2 years) Command of coffee and espresso extraction Ability to teach others coffee and espresso skills, including latte art Ability to represent and enhance brand Align with brand culture Ability to work autonomously Out-going, fearless, kind Preferred Barista Certifications (SCA +) Roastery experience Equipment knowledge and tech skills Additional Information
3-5 days of work per week, depending on roles applicant is capable of filling. Candidate will be fairly compensated with respect to experience. City Bean offers vacation, health, profit sharing, and a sustainable culture of respect. Training provided.
