Sales Coordinator – National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) The Sales Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating sales operations for the Business Partnerships Department. This includes selling advertising and sponsorships, creating marketing materials for the sales team, and coordinating the NDIA tradeshow schedule.

Base pay range $60,000 / yr – $70,000 / yr

Essential Responsibilities

Maintains regular contact with the Director of Sales, assists with selling print and digital advertising, preparing, reviewing, and following up on proposals and checking on leads.

Prepares and distributes promotional/marketing material, including media kits, exhibit and sponsorship materials, monthly promotion pieces, magazines, and supplies, to the sales team and potential clients.

Assists with the selling of advertising and other products as determined.

Works with the Sales Director and Sr. VP, Meetings, Divisions & Partnerships to develop and execute a sales strategy focused on revenue growth and new opportunities.

Analyses, monitors, and evaluates market conditions and provides input for the development of strategic plans and promotional programs to support sales efforts toward increased revenue.

Manages, supports, and services accounts related to assigned sales products.

Addresses client concerns and ensures timely resolution of issues with appropriate follow‑up.

Follows up on all new leads received via phone, e‑mail, and other sources within 48 hours.

Builds and maintains accurate records of all client interactions in the sales module in NetForum; works with membership to ensure records are routinely updated in compliance with AAM/BPA standards.

Helps formulate new sales products/revenue streams, such as e‑books, webinars, podcasts, and newsletter sponsorships.

Coordinates NDIA’s trade shows, including securing booth space and relevant booth materials.

Production

Manages the flow of advertising insertion orders and materials for print and online.

Maintains and updates digital advertising campaigns in Google Ad Manager.

Provides detailed campaign feedback and statistics to clients.

Monitors advances in digital ad hosting services and implements updates or new hosting platforms when necessary.

Reviews magazine proofs to ensure technical accuracy and requested positioning for advertisements.

Manages the AAM/BPA audit for National Defense and works with outside contractor Pubworx to ensure all appropriate materials are submitted in a timely fashion for the audit.

Assists in crafting the editorial calendar to provide readers with relevant content and potential advertisers.

Performs other related NDIA duties as required.

Marketing

Assists Sr. VP, Meetings, Divisions & Partnerships with managing competitor trades, securing publication bins at third‑party tradeshows, and NDIA’s logo use agreements with its members and partners.

Creates promotional marketing materials.

Aids in the creation of the NDIA media kit.

Plans and executes marketing strategies to increase advertising, exhibit, and sponsorship sales.

Develops and delivers sales presentations and proposals.

Becomes an expert on trends in the defense industry.

Tracks NDIA competitor conferences and trade shows.

Researches and coordinates readership surveys to examine subscriber attitudes and improve experience with National Defense magazine to increase sales.

Financials

Prepares and distributes weekly reports, including sales revenue and other reports as needed.

Performs computer database entry within the advertising department, including information pertaining to advertisers and advertising agencies.

Coordinates with the accounting department on account receivables and billing.

Qualifications

Degree in Business, Marketing, or related field.

3–5 years of demonstrated sales experience.

Trade show experience is a plus.

Experience in sales prospecting.

Experience in a2z, Google Ad Manager, and NetForum is a plus.

Internal Relationships Interacts with the Meetings, Divisions & Partnership Team, National Defense Editorial and Design teams, Marketing, and Accounting.

External Relationships Has regular contact and fosters relationships with NDIA and its affiliates’ members; sales clients, marketing agencies, non‑member companies, universities, government and defense agencies.

ADA Specifications This position is primarily sedentary in the Arlington, Virginia office with occasional overnight travel and may require some bending and lifting.
