North America Sales Manager – Research & Analytics
TSI is a global leader in providing and developing innovative solutions related to Basic Aerosol Research, Indoor and Outdoor Air Quality, Ultrafine Particle Technology, Ambient and Atmospheric Monitoring, Environmental, Filtration, Particle Generation, and Engine Exhaust Emissions. Key market segments include academia, industry, environmental, research and development (R&D), state/government/federal and military, and high‑growth opportunities in the semiconductor and advanced electronics sectors.
Responsibilities Business Goals and Strategies Exceed sales team targets by developing strategies and initiatives within key market segments and supporting team members in achieving individual annual revenue and growth targets. Enhance market knowledge to strengthen team members’ ability to effectively configure and position measurement solutions against competition. Collaborate with Marketing to understand and influence efforts that support sales activities. Effectively communicate, implement, and execute go‑to‑market initiatives to the sales team. Support collection of voice‑of‑customer data to inform new product development, upgrades, and service offerings. Help drive growth from new products and software solutions. Participate in quarterly management reviews and planning sessions at our corporate office to review financial performances and set team direction. Work with marketing and engineering to develop and implement sales training courses, webinars, and short courses for raising market awareness and education. Manage key accounts as required.
Team Development Expand and develop team members’ selling skills using a consultative sales approach, including preparation, pre‑call planning, cross‑selling, and customization of solutions. Help sales team members maintain and increase face‑to‑face activities in the field. Help sales team develop, review, implement, and execute business territory plans. Coach team members via joint calls at customers’ sites, actively participate in joint virtual meetings, provide constructive feedback, and ensure consistent follow‑ups. Conduct frequent one‑to‑one meetings to ensure proper use of CRM‑Salesforce and support navigation of challenging situations. Recruit talent and champion career growth through developmental discussions and cross‑functional projects.
Supervisory Responsibilities Lead and manage a direct sales team, establishing objectives, measuring performance, and providing timely feedback. Conduct performance mid‑year and annual reviews, provide feedback, and recommend compensation, promotion, training, performance improvement plans, discipline, and termination decisions.
Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or Business. MBA or advanced technical degree desired. Minimum 5‑7 years of direct technical sales experience in capital equipment and/or instrumentation, selling a complete and diverse product portfolio.
Desired 3‑5 years of sales management experience. Proven track record of meeting or exceeding individual and team targets. Proficiency in customer management (CRM) software—Salesforce required. Familiarity with Aerosol Science, Atmospheric Monitoring, Indoor and Outdoor Air Quality, Filtration, R&D Equipment, and Laboratory Services highly valued. Experience selling in Research Labs, Universities, Industrial, State/Federal Government, and Military highly valued. Experience selling into cleanroom, semiconductor, microelectronics, or advanced manufacturing markets highly valued.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities High level of integrity and inquisitive nature. Ability to prioritize and drive for results. Proven ability to build, develop, and motivate a cohesive team. Continuous learner driven to succeed and achieve significant results. Effective communicator at all organizational levels. Partner effectively with other teams within the organization. Proficient in current sales methodologies and best practices. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal/written communication skills.
Travel Travels ~50‑60% to meet customers, joint calls with team members, attend conferences, trade shows, and other events.
