Utility Industrial Sales Position Purpose Responsible for directing assigned Sales personnel in the efficient and profitable sale of products, services, and equipment. As well as, making recommendations to management with respect to the best interests of the Sales Department.
Utility Industrial Sales Essential Functions
Communicates and supports the Kirby Smith vision and core values of One Mission, One Team, One Plan, One Goal
Develops and implements strategic sales plans to include annual forecasts, objectives, and sales goals for the Sales Department and each assigned salesperson
Sets and maintains sales and rental goals with respect to profit, volume, product mix, market share, and coverage
Trains, directs, supervises, and evaluates the performance of assigned sales representatives with respect to attaining acceptable sales volumes, profit margins, and market share goals
Reviews market and inventory analysis to determine customer needs, sales volume potential, and pricing schedules to meet company goals, as well as make recommendations to the General Manager for inventory control and management
Develops and maintains coordination with the marketing department promotional and marketing strategies for assigned product lines
Monitors competitor products, sales, and marketing activities; works with assigned sales representatives to develop maximum selling effort at optimum cost; recommends territorial changes as necessary
Recommends maximum allowance on trade-ins jointly with the General Manager and Used Equipment Manager to meet the target gross and net operating profits; maintains a balance between new and used equipment sales and rentals; promotes the sale of parts and service
Represents the company at trade associations, conventions, and meetings to promote company offerings
Establishes and maintains a consistent corporate image at all times
Prepares periodic sales reports showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion
Acts as contact person for certain designated vendor accounts to coordinate vendor programs, market share focus, finance, training, literature, and dealer/vendor relations
Works with the General Manager in the evaluation of assigned salesmen and the hiring, performance management, and dismissal process
Ensures consistent and reliable on-site attendance
Performs other duties as assigned
Utility Industrial Sales Qualifications
High school education with post-secondary education preferred
Five (5) years of sales-related experience, preferably in construction equipment distribution
Three (3) years of outside sales experience
Excellent communication skills to include oral, written, and interpersonal skills and techniques
Demonstrated ability to understand, use, and communicate business and financial principles and reports
Demonstrated ability to anticipate and solve practical problems or resolve issues
Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook
Utility Industrial Sales Physical Requirements
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance
Physical ability to squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, climb, and reach overhead
Must be able to work in extreme heat or cold and wet, damp, dusty, or windy conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises, hazardous materials, and fumes/odors
Able to sit for long periods
Ability to adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) policy and maintain individual PPE
