Overview The New York Small Business Field Account Manager (FAM) supports brokers and General Agents who serve small business customers. The role builds strong relationships with brokers, provides education, and ensures smooth service delivery to help them meet the needs of their clients. The FAM also acts as a key liaison between brokers and internal teams, addressing escalated service issues, monitoring trends, and delivering solutions that enhance broker satisfaction and retention. The role supports the NY Small Group internal team on projects, reporting and tracking as needed.

Primary Responsibilities

Serve as a consultative resource for brokers and General Agents, offering guidance and support on products, processes, and service solutions.

Conduct in‑person meetings with brokers to review service performance, share insights, and identify opportunities for improvement.

Conduct in‑person Open Enrollment meetings in the NY, NJ and CT Metro area.

Communicate administrative updates, benefit changes, and wellness program initiatives to internal teams as needed for market distribution.

Partner with internal teams to resolve escalated issues promptly and effectively.

Educate brokers on available tools and resources to streamline their operations and improve their client experience.

Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and General Agents to drive engagement and loyalty.

Collaborate with Sales Account Executives and other field‑based staff to ensure alignment and consistency in service delivery.

Represent UnitedHealthcare positively in the marketplace, demonstrating professionalism and expertise.

Business Contextual Challenges

Relationship Building:

Develop and maintain strong broker and General Agent relationships.

Understand broker needs, prioritize efforts, and provide value‑added consultation.

Communication:

Proactively share updates on programs and initiatives.

Ensure responsiveness and follow‑through on commitments.

Healthcare Knowledge:

Maintain a deep understanding of health plan strategies, market trends, and competitive positioning.

Act as a trusted advisor through in‑depth product and industry knowledge.

Product Knowledge:

Clearly articulate UnitedHealthcare’s value proposition for medical and specialty programs.

Promote tools and resources that support broker success.

Required Qualifications

Active insurance license as required by law upon hire; if not licensed, can obtain within 30 days of hire.

1+ years of health insurance experience.

1+ years of experience in customer service or managing relationships.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Proven solid presentation skills in both small and large group settings.

Proven advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Proven ability to work in a high‑pressure, high‑volume environment with a self‑supported attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Human Resources or medical benefits.

Familiarity with Salesforce products.

Proven ability to work with external partners such as brokers and consultants.

Pay and Benefits Hourly pay for this role ranges $21.63–$48.08 based on full‑time employment. The role is also eligible to receive bonuses based on sales performance. In addition to salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase, and 401(k) contribution.
