PRSC Community Engagement Coordinator/Recovery Coach
Program:
Peer Recovery Support
Classification:
Exempt – 40 hours per week
Compensation:
$50,000 – $53,000 annually
Reports to:
PRSC Program Director
Job Summary Working under the direction of the MV Recovery Support Center Program Director, this role conducts outreach to individuals in or seeking recovery across the island, targeting underserved populations. Responsibilities include facilitating community awareness, collaborating with Volunteer Leaders to develop RSC branding, raising public awareness, supporting the Program Director in community presentations, and ensuring a safe space for all participants. The coordinator upholds the Code of Ethics and the philosophy of the RSC.
Essential Functions
Creates and implements a community outreach plan.
Works with Volunteer Leaders to create presentations for businesses, service agencies, town boards, and other community service providers regarding MVRSC services and community connection.
Develops public education materials and displays for community events.
Creates brochures, flyers, and other promotional materials to highlight PRSC activities.
Oversees and implements public events, including open house informational sessions.
Collaborates with Volunteer Leaders to produce the PRSC newsletter.
Serves as a member of the MVCS Stakeholders Committee and the SUD Coalition.
Works with staff, members, and volunteers to provide a variety of volunteer and leadership opportunities that promote engagement and connection with the PRSC.
Meets regularly with the PRSC Program Director.
Designs and distributes the Red House Monthly Calendar.
Attends trainings and other professional development opportunities as required.
Regularly meets with members of the recovery community to track trends and respond to changing needs.
Adheres to all agency policies.
Provides coaching to Volunteer Leaders.
Maintains positive relationships with staff, members, volunteers, families, funders, the SUD Coalition, and the recovery community.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Lived experience in recovery from substance addiction or a co-occurring disorder.
Knowledge and experience collaborating with the Island Community.
Comprehensive understanding of substance use disorder, addiction, and recovery.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
Ability to interact professionally with individuals of all ages, cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual orientations, lifestyles, and physical abilities.
Current working knowledge of the Vineyard community organizations and providers.
Experience implementing effective outreach strategies.
Completed Recovery Coach Training and ethical considerations.
Marketing experience.
Experience facilitating public presentations.
Exceptional organizational and time‑management skills.
Ability to work effectively with a variety of community partners.
Leadership, organizational and time‑management skills.
Familiarity with computer systems including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and marketing tools such as Canva.
Ability to pass a background check including CORI and fingerprinting at hire and annually.
Strong interpersonal boundaries.
Non‑judgmental attitude.
High school diploma required.
Availability to work nights and weekends.
Valid driver’s license and reliable, insured transportation required.
